What was your most embarrassing outdoor\public spanking as a guy?

How many of you babysat in the 1970's and 1980's?
If you did, what do you remember most about those years as a babysitter? Would you help a novice roller blader?

My son doesn't listen when outdoor.?
I have a 3 1/2 year old son who is stubborn and doesn't listen when we are out. I know that he is taking an advantage of surrounding my others and not listening. When we are home, he would listen because he doesn't want to get spank or getting sent to his room, but when we are outdoor he knows that I would not spank him in front of people so he's taking an advantage of that and use it to try and get what he wants in a store or run around and throw tantrums. Snowmageddon, why we don't have an outdoor Northern city Super Bowl?
I remember after 9/11, when then NFL commissioner Paul Taglibue, suggested that the cities of New York or Washington, D.C. be able to host a future Super Bowl, even though they have no roofs and are cold winter cities, to help those cities recover from 9/11. While a commendable sentiment, I just didn't think it was a practical idea.

In some other circles, there has been a little bit of jealousy and grumblings, that only warm winter cities of the South and West or indoor stadiums are only able to host Super Bowls.

Well I hope this recent 'Snowmageddon' has killed that debate and though the Jets and Giants do get to enjoy a brand, spanking new stadium next year, I cringe to think of the idea of holding a Super Bowl there just because it's new digs.

I personally think it has to do with the league trying to keep the weather from being a factor in a super bowl. Remember super bowl 41? How sloppy and frustrating that was to see two good teams struggle in the rain? Weather often can inhibit a team's performance and fans want to see both teams best efforts. Think of the losing team and its fans, complaining to the cows come home about how their team lost because of the elements. Fans already do this with the refs (a factor that the league can't exactly help) just imagine the groaning and resentment if weather is allowed to be a factor.

Outdoor dog wont potty train?
I got a 1.5yr old beagle (female) who lived her life on a doghouse. I now have her as an indoor dog, shes my baby :) BUT potty training is horrible. Its been a month now, and it seems no progress has been made. I think since she lived outside for her whole life, she doesnt understand that being outside is potty time, and inside is not. She just thinks we are going out to play, its getting very tiring. She is not spayed yet, but will be soon. Does being unspayed have anything to do with it? Ive been taking her out every hour basically, and shes still peeing in the house, sometimes as SOON as i bring her back inside. Ok lets see, my son is 9 going on 30. He likes to lie about others lying about him. For example; yesterday he got in a fight on the bus to the sitters house. The sitter, her neighbor and the bus driver all told me what had happened, and for the life of him they are lying. Today he missed the bus home and said it was because he left class late, but when I spoke to his teacher, he didn't leave late. He's gotten very defensive lately, and talks back w/ attitude for EVERYTHING. I do not spank him, we talk a lot about everything, and when he behaves bad I take away TV, WII, PS2, Toy Chest, and outdoor privelages. Any other suggestions?

I've heard this story a million times and I know that the last thing you want to do is to spank your son. Here are a few optional methods you could use:

-Treat every action he performs with an appropriate reaction. You know when the dog pees on the carpet, you rub his nose in it. Well do the same thing with your son. When he lies to you about something, lie to him about something. That will hopefully teach him that lying is wrong, especially when he is the one that is being lied to.

-Ground him to his room but take away everything. When he misbehaves, or lies, take out everything but his bed and dresser. As he begins to behave and not lie, then slowly give him an item back. Save the better and more expensive items for last. The point is to make his grounding a punishment and by taking everything out of his room, he can't go there and secretly play with his toys and stuff.

-I know you don't want to but give him a good old fashioned whooping. After that he'll think twice about mis-behaving and lying. Let him know that if he lies again that he will get it worse than he did the first time. To be honest, this method is really just a scare tactic, although the first time you use it, you actually have to give him a spanking. I know that you might not want to hit him but sometimes guys do need to be spanked.

Parents, would you take your toddler to an outdoor 3-day music festival?
I went to Ichthus Fest this weekend (Christian rock festival) and was amazed at the number of infants and toddlers there! I would think that between the scorching sun, the sweltering heat, the huge crowds (20,000 people!), and the loud booming music, it would be a really bad place for little guys. Well I wouldnt take them all day but I would probably take them. They need to get out and experience life too. A guy can adapt to almost any situation if done properly. If the parent was well prepared and was able to keep control I dont see why it would be a problem. But the parent should be willing to leave should the need come. You also cant make a guy behave if they feel uncomfortable. I think if the parent is in tune with their guy and knows when they have had enough and knows when to lewave then it should be okay.

My 3 year old son has become completely out of control! ?
At times he is the sweetest little boy ever. At other times (as much as it hurts my feelings to say it) he is a complete nightmare. I am a stay at home Mom and we do lots of indoor and outdoor activities during the day so I know he is not bored. If he is told to do something he will look right at us and walk off as if we werent talking to him.
